Four of Wands Tarot Guide

This post is intended to be a mini Four  of Wands Tarot Guide. It is important to mention that the longer you work with the cards the more you will discover how they speak to you. For example, the Four of Wands does have a theme and traditional meaning but I recommend leaving “space” for the card to speak to you. Over time, you may discover that the card represents unique insights or themes for you personally.

Suit of Wands Summary

Numerology of the #4 – Themes

  • Number 4 energy resonates with the vibrations of practicality, organization,  pragmatism, patriotism, dignity, trust, worthiness, endurance, loyalty, mastery, building solid foundations, conservatism, determination, production and hard work.
  • It also relates to morals, traditional values, honesty and integrity, inner-wisdom, security, self-control, loyalty, conscientiousness, reality and realistic values, stability and ability.

Four of Wands Tarot – Upright Meaning

  • Associated with the planet Jupiter =  expansion
  • Cardinal / aries energy
  • Keywords – Prosperity and familial bliss.
  • Building a foundation, stability, harvest,  manifestation or peace in the home.  It can be about community and the karma of bringing people together especially to celebrate something like a marriage.
  • Direct meaning  – this is the card of completion. It can mean any kind of completion but especially projects that have had a lot of time and energy invested in them. In this way it is the completion of a project that required a lot of willpower. It can also mean success in a project or career that leverages team work.
  • Can also mean the querent has achieved work / life balance.
  • A path may have been cleared for you but there may be surprises along the way.
  • The 4 of Wands is different from the 10 of Pentacles in that the 10 of pentacles is more about prosperity from multiple generations or is more material in nature. The 4 of Wands is more about well-balanced inner happiness with efforts, projects or career.

Shadow Side of the Four of Wands

  • The 4 of Wands is one of the few cards in the deck that has a positive meaning in both the upright and reversed position.
  • In reverse, this card represents peace and harmony. The querent may be experiencing prosperity and happiness and it is important to recognize and appreciate what they have gained so far. They may not be valuing what they have already, especially as it relates to the home.
  • It can also refer to a “rite of passage” of some sort  – the querent may be transitioning from one status to another.
  • Room for growth to consider – Are you hiding your natural talent or have you stopped something or stopped yourself from doing something that you love?
