This post is intended to be a mini Seven of Wands Tarot Guide. It is important to mention that the longer you work with the cards the more you will discover how they speak to you. For example, the Seven of Wands does have a theme and traditional meaning but I recommend leaving “space” for the card to speak to you. Over time, you may discover that the card represents unique insights or themes for you personally.

Seven of Wands Tarot – Upright Meaning
- Associated with Venus and fixed / Leo energy.
- This card can represent a struggle that is not wanted but there is a need to fight (usually alone). The querent will have to “go through” to get out of the situation they are in but they will have strength to do so.
- This is the hero’s card about strong will and being in a point of resistance. They should stand up and do what is best for them. They should not care who likes it or doesn’t like it. They should embrace “healthy selfishness”. When this card shows up it is telling you to do the right thing. Don’t talk about it, just do it.
- This card can also represent the need to confront the situation or defend oneself while sticking to a higher ground. It can also mean that the querent is encountering resistance or hostilities in their work environment.
- If this card shows up in the past position – the querent has already won.
- If this card shows up in the present position – the querent is currently in a situation of resistance or defiance.
- If the card shows up in the future position – the querent will need to stand up for themselves very soon.
Shadow Side of the Seven of Wands
- The querent finds themselves in a victim mentality or feeling like life is always just so hard – “poor me”. But now is not the time to be vulnerable. The querent needs to gather courage, fight and stand their ground. Fleeing is not the best option and because they have what it takes to win even if they don’t see it.
- It can also mean that the querent is also plagued by indecision and / or lack of confidence to move forward. There is no “perfect moment” and the querent should take action now to prevent the resistance from becoming more serious.
