This post is intended to be a mini Three of Wands Tarot Guide. It is important to mention that the longer you work with the cards the more you will discover how they speak to you. For example, the Three of Wands does have a theme and traditional meaning but I recommend leaving “space” for the card to speak to you. Over time, you may discover that the card represents unique insights or themes for you personally.

Three of Wands Tarot – Upright Meaning
- A good omen and validation through productivity that the querent is on the right track. New career, entrepreneurial or business success is being realized. Self-employment is paying off. Growth is showing and things are in a good place. There is more preparation but also more to look forward to. The querent has the stability to carry things through. There is no turning back now.
- This card represents plans put into action. The first phase of the project has been successful and now it’s time to wait for additional results. A positive outcome is likely but the results may not be immediate. Active waiting teaches patience. Patience teaches confidence and calmness.
- Querent should continue working on the project at hand or turn to a new project while elements develop that are beyond his control.
- Success and achievement that still has further to go. The success of the project is not entirely within the querents control – it is also dependent on the efforts of others.
- The Three of wands is often called the card of virtue and it carries a direct message. It tells us to act and think within our honor code and approach things from a space of virtuousness and strict ethical adherence. Common lesson with this card – having the courage of your convictions, to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.
Shadow Side of the Three of Wands
- The 3 of Wands reversed suggests mistakes made as a result of impatience, oversight and carelessness. Something significant is missing or overlooked with the endeavor – it is important for the querent to review again before sharing.
- This card can also represent setbacks and disappointments despite all of the efforts made. There are opportunities that may have been missed and things may not come out as planned. The setback could also be due to a lack of support and cooperation from others.
- This card can also represent a highly competitive environment and professional or economic forces are creating resistance for the querent.
