What is “Profile” in Human Design?

  • In Human Design, the personality or “profile” is represented as a 2-number combination (e.g., 3/5) and can be seen as an archetype for life.
  • Profile is “the costume” we wear
  • Profile breaks down the way others see you, the way you see yourself, your path to wisdom, the way you interact with others, and the way you show up in life. 

1 / 4 Profile – The 2 Number Combination in your chart

1 = the Investigator or Inquisitive

  • The themes of the “1” aspect is all about introspection, research, discovery and building a strong foundation

4 = the Opportunist or People Person

  • The theme of the “4” aspect is externalization, friendliness, and influence.

1 /4 Profile in Human Design 

You are here to get to the bottom of things

  • This profile enjoys investigating and getting to the bottom of things. They link to take that knowledge and then share it with others. They are here to master knowledge in the area(s) that fascinate them and externalize that knowledge so that others can also benefit.  
  • Their gift is that they can share the knowledge they have gained without having experienced it themselves.

A change agent

  • There is a harmony in the 1/4 profile which makes them very capable of getting knowledge out into the world so they can be change agents. They bring information to the other profiles. 
  • The 1/4 is a strong, powerful individual who radiates authority in their area of expertise.
  • When this profile learns how to pass on the knowledge they have collected, this is when they will attract the right people who are ready for the information they want to share.

Naturally Friendly

  • 1/4’s are naturally friendly and this is how they attract their listeners, partners, and network. Maintaining and curating their network is one of the best investments they can make.
  • It is important for the well-being of the 1/4 to make smart decisions on which people to invest in. Investing in the wrong individuals or groups can lead to burnout and fatigue for this profile.


  • The 1/4 profile can be very creative but their creativity only shines when they get enough alone time. They enjoy their social network but they also need to pull away so they can recover their energy and tap into inspiration.
  • Taking time for themselves can also be healing for the 1 / 4.

Move on when they encounter resistance 

  • The 1/4 profile often doesn’t handle resistance from others very well. When they meet someone who rejects their knowledge, they will stand their ground and move on to the next person who is willing and open to listening to them.
  • Once 1/4’s become their own authority on a subject, they are on solid ground and are in control of their own life.
